Letter from the Editors

Dear Readers,

We announced in a January 13, 2012 press release the news that we will be launching an Electronic Article format on-line that will replace our bimonthly print edition of DogSport Magazine.

As not only editors, but also readers like you, this was a very long thought out decision.  We receive such joy in seeing the magazine arrive and holding each new print.  We marvel at what we did right, and we kick ourselves for what we did wrong.  Still the first flip through those pages, seeing the pictures and articles is such a treasured day every two months. We are all filled with pride when we see a copy on a store shelf, or in a trainer’s hand.

With that said we did not arrive at this decision lightly.  We made lists of pros and cons.  We had meetings, and meetings, and meetings.  There were late night phone calls and late, late, late night emails. Could we do both?  Should we do both?  What is best for the readers?  What is best for the company?  And so on and so forth until the decision was finally made to move forward with the Electronic Article format.

From the day we purchased DogSport Magazine we vowed with every edition to do better then the last.  In some editions it was changing to full color, then perfect bound, matte finish, eco ink, 100 plus pages, better articles, better pictures, better layout. It was always meant to give the reader more.

That hard work and dedication was justified when DogSport was recognized by The Dog Writers Association of America and won back to back Best Special Interest Magazine, Maxwell Medallion Winner award in 2009 and 2010.

The tears have been shed.  The decision made.  The print edition will be dearly missed.  Not only by our readers, but by our staff here at DogSport Magazine & NTI Global.

What to expect:

Content:  We will continue to offer the highest level of articles, training tips, and competition coverage.  Articles from some of your favorite writers will continue as well as new ones.  We now have the ability to upload articles instantly so on-line readers will receive content much faster than in the print edition. Coverage of events will be more current and all content will come at a faster rate.

Cost:  Articles will range in cost from .99 to $2.99.  This is a great savings for those who wish to read only specific sport news, as the cover price on retail is $10.99 US.  Now with the new a la carte system you can purchase only the articles that interest you.

Mobility:  Save any article that you purchase in a PDF format on your computer, netbook, or smart phone; wherever you go, so does DogSport.  It does not matter if you have one article or 100 you can have them all right at your fingertips anywhere you are.

Back Articles:  You can purchase many of your favorite articles from past issues on-line right now.  You don’t even need to wait until January 1, 2013 they are up on www.dogsportmagzine.com.

Back Issues:  We will continue to sell back issues while they remain in stock.  If you want the print edition of your favorite back issue grab it now while supplies last.  We will no longer print back issues.

Subscription:  Any reader who has a subscription that extends past January 1, 2013 will be receiving a letter and phone call from our friendly customer service department.

DogSport Branded Merchandise:  We will continue to offer overstock tunnels, tamer bags, accessories and more available right on our website www.dogsportmagazine.com

Facebook and Social Media:  Facebook and all other social media that we currently offer will continue and grow into the future.  If you have not yet please follow us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/DogSport-Magazine/70051554075 Also join our twitter at http://twitter.com/dogsportmag/

That is just some of the things to come in the future.  As we move forward we still strive to make DogSport Magazine and brand better everyday.  We hope to continue to grow on-line and increase the value we offer at all times.  Please join us on January 1, 2013 with the unveiling of the new website and Electronic Articles.
